Coumarin

 

Aroma: Coconut, rich, smooth, tobacco and very sweet

Properties: Very rounded and smooth note. Also quite pleasant

 

Coumarin for perfumery consists of large rounded white crystals. This pleasant and very sweet smelling material is extracted from many sources. High concentrations are found in the woodruff plant.

 

Coumarin does have some medicinal values, mainly as an anticoagulants. It can sometimes be added to cigars and cigarettes to support the effect of the nicotine. . Coumarin is poisonous and should never be consumed or applied to the skin.

 

Coumarin  goes well with: chypre, fougère and lavender.
